His Story
Nathaniel Larcombe is the son of the late Nordin Larcombe III and the presumed late Ebony Dobson. His mother left the family when Nate was just two years old, around the same time his father his father discovered that he was sick. When Nate was about four years old, he moved in with his new legal guardian, his Aunt Sénia. Around six months later, his father lost his health battle, and Nate was raised alongside his cousins like a brother.
Quiet but far more friendly than he let on, Nate’s childhood persona would easily have been described as brooding, although in truth he was simply shy and observant. While his transition from his father to his aunt went smoothly due to his young age, he’d internalized a distant sense of abandonment and it always took him awhile to warm up to people, for fear they’d walk out of his life too. He still remains aloof before really letting someone into his social circle. As he entered his teens, he was coerced into going to prom by his cousin Chelsea, and set up as a blind date with Lacy Carter. He liked her, thought she was cute, but he wasn’t interested in dating. It was only a couple years later when his opinion of girls changed and he was linked romantically to a large portion of Manhattan’s female population, his domain extending into Long Island. He was nearly twenty when he realized he wanted to be exclusive to Lacy, and invited her as his date to his cousin’s wedding, intending to tell her so. Unfortunately, he discovered that she was moving on with Dante Casas, and in an effort to not have to see them together, Nate moved out to Los Angeles and then Seattle. There, he resumed a small Casanova lifestyle, and began drinking heavily. When the girls and alcohol weren’t getting the job done, he began his songwriting career. His music from that period was particularly dark and angry, and he was able to sell the rights to many of them to the heavy metal community. When he lost touch with Lacy, he refocused on moving on and settling down. He found himself drawn to Astrid Kilcline, once again, someone he met through his cousins; Astrid was the lead singer in their band. |
The two met when the band was in recording sessions and Nate was working as a producer on a track. They went on to spend more and more time together outside of the studio, culminating in a Valentine’s Day proposal, along with the discovery that Astrid was expecting. The couple set about planning their wedding to take place after the birth of their child.
Shortly before Astrid’s due date, Nate was contacted by Lacy Carter. He can remember exactly what he was doing, wearing, and where he was when he received her text – he was in his apartment, in the middle of ordering dinner online, wearing a green tshirt and black jeans. The text he got said simply, “So you’re engaged?” He ever stopped to really think about how she knew, just assumed that she’d heard from Chelsea. As he read the message, he could have sworn his world exploded. They reunited, and he resisted every impulse to claim her, knowing that he’d have to make things right with Astrid first. Following a discussion with Astrid where he confessed that he’d never truly gotten over Lacy, and that if they got married he would probably always wonder ‘what if.’ He didn’t feel it would be fair to her, when she could easily find someone who would love her completely. He stayed be her side for the remainder of the pregnancy, rushing her to the hospital for the birth of his son, and they agreed they would raise their child as friends. He and Lacy navigated their new relationship slowly, taking the time to enjoy being together – really together – for the first time. Their relationship came to a passionate proposal, Nate telling Lacy he didn’t care how long their engagement was, as long as they got married. Their late summer wedding in Year 71 was a romantic event, with Chelsea claiming credit for the entire thing. Around their first anniversary, the couple decided that they would start trying to grow their family, and found a much larger apartment not far from Nate’s cousin Natalia, with plans to possibly move out to Brooklyn for even more space. Since making the decision to expand, Nate has been plagued with nightmares that he may not be able to have any more children. |
